Happy Friday, my friends!
A few weeks ago, it was my absolute pleasure to load up my friend, Meg, and take a short little weekend girls getaway to Laurel, Mississippi, to photograph Abbie and Taylor.
Though she was several years younger than me, Abbie and I grew up in the same hometown and went to the same school. After a few chats, we discovered what most people from the same town usually discover – we know and are kin to most everybody in some form or fashion! In fact, at one point during the session, I was telling her about going to New Orleans in June to shoot another engagement session, and she says, “Yeah! That’s my cousin!” Well, there you go… small town Alabama! Haha!
Meg and I made a weekend out of the trip and booked our stay at the Wisteria Inn Bed and Breakfast, which unbeknownst to us, is actually RIGHT NEXT DOOR to a very famous Laurel couple. I won’t name any names, but he’s a big guy, she’s a tiny mite, and they can be found on HGTV. 😉
Abbie and Taylor met us on the front porch of the B&B and that’s where all the magic started. We had the fullest of intentions walk through the historic homes there in Laurel, which we did, but not before a stop in the yard of the B&B, because the light was PERFECT. That’s something I really love about photography… to most, that little corner of the yard was nothing special, but the light was beautiful and the greenery splendid. And so, almost half of the session took place in that one little corner.
You’ll also notice several shots of them in a swing- that is extra special for me and them. When she saw the swing, Abbie told that their first picture together was actually in a swing. They were barely, if at all, dating at the time, and a friend sneakily took a picture of them sitting in a swing together. With that story, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, and I think those shots turned out to be so sweet.
Taylor is the youth pastor at the church where the two will wed in September, and I’m more than thrilled to be a part of these precious memories in such an incredible time in life. Also, it doesn’t hurt that I get to travel to really cool places like Laurel. Give me a glass of sweet tea, and let me sit on those sprawling porches on 5th Avenue, and I’m golden!
I hope you guys love these as much as I do! 🙂
Also, we had this little visitor. And contrary to how these photos make it appear, he REALLY wanted to hang out!
Beautiful pictures! Awesome couple and photographer!
