Happy Wedding Wednesday, my friends!
Today, I’m sharing some images of Peyton and Wyatt’s perfect wedding day at Soggy Bottom Lodge in Linden, AL.
And I would be completely remiss if I didn’t start this off by A) congratulating and thanking Peyton for something and B) offering a word of advice to future brides…. Y’all, when I arrived at the venue, not only were Peyton and her bridesmaids on time according to our schedule, but they were EARLY. WAY EARLY. And when I say I couldn’t be more proud, I mean it! Quite often, things run behind on wedding day. Sometimes things take longer than anticipated or something is missing. Hair and makeup can run behind or things as simple as putting on wedding day clothes are a bit more complicated than expected. We never had a single issue with time on Peyton and Wyatt’s day, but you know what the best part of that was? Peyton and Wyatt both, but Peyton especially, really were able to ENJOY their day.
Quite often in the craziness of planning, brides forget to give themselves room to breathe on the wedding day. We see Pinterest and storybook weddings and feel the need to accomplish it ALL. And when I say “we,” I mean it. I was there, too. In fact, because our own wedding was heavily DIY and on a low budget, I tried to do and control too much. Thankfully, my wedding photographer was persistent in building our timeline and adding heavy padding, so Seth and I had a chance to relax and enjoy the day.
To my future brides and even brides whose weddings I will not photograph, please believe me when I say – you need extra time. After all, the point of this day is to enjoy marrying your spouse! To relish in signing up for a lifetime of love and laughter. Don’t miss out on the day, because you’re rushing to the next thing!
Ok, enough of my preaching on that subject.
Peyton did a fantastic job of selecting classic and timeless details while also lending a nod to an October wedding. Her florals were phenomenal, and I loved her use of white and neutral pumpkins that coordinated with her color scheme while also reminding us that it was October.
Not only did the scenery at Soggy Bottom create a beautiful backdrop (Seth saw an albino deer among other things on his drive in!), but the ability to stay on property lended to a relaxing atmosphere for the entire bridal party. When I arrived, they were playing games, shooting pool, and all around enjoying each other’s company. And that’s exactly how it should be!
Because Peyton and Wyatt were able to enjoy their day and live in that moment, we were able to capture some really incredible portraits! I look at these and think about how their children and grandchildren will treasure them one day. Peyton is STUNNING, and as the trademark of a really incredible #JBradfordGroom… Wyatt loves her so well and so preciously. And that my friends, is one reason I do this over and over again. To be a part of stories like theirs. To be witness to the beginning of a new lifetime and a new legacy. To be tasked with documenting this moment in lives like theirs is one of my highest honors and a part of my own legacy.
Enjoy, my friends.
