They celebrated 6 months of marriage yesterday, so it’s time I celebrate with a long overdue blog post!
Tanner and Cameron‘s Sandals Grande St Lucia wedding in May was so very special to me for a multitude of reasons. For starter’s, I’ve known Tanner since she was in high school when I met her and her older sister, Taylor, through a high school leadership conference where I was a group leader. Tanner and Taylor are both full of a light that you just can’t resist. To know them is to love them, be inspired by them, and be captivated by their zest for life.
Fast forward several years, and I had the opportunity to photograph Taylor’s wedding in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2019. When Cameron popped the question and Tanner reached out saying, “we have to have you as our wedding photographer,” I almost cried. Each and every couple is special to me, for sure, but to know that I have now documented both sisters’ weddings is extra special to me. (And not the first time I’ve gotten to do this! A true honor.)
So… let’s jump right into it!
First up, a funny story- Tanner asked me to join their wedding morning hike as a friend, and, of course, I was going to bring may camera, right? Unfortunately, the hike she first hoped for was closed that weekend, so the resort suggested another for us claiming it as “mild.” We realized early on that their definition of “mild” and ours was VERY different! Haha! And I realized that I had not been working out enough for this. About 15 minutes in and quite a bit of incline, the guide says, “Ok, now the hike starts.” I tried to set the panic aside, because I definitely didn’t want to ruin this experience for them, but it was getting tough. After a section with slippery leaves and using a rope to climb rocks, Tanner turned around and said, “Nope. I’m good. That’s enough. I don’t want to hurt myself on my wedding day.” And the entire group breathed a sigh of relief. Turns out, we were all dying in our different ways, and this was for sure the best decision! We made our way back down and enjoyed some nice views of the water as we went.
When we arrived back at Sandals Grande St Lucia, it was time to have some lunch, get showers, and get ready. The guys to one room and the girls to another, it was fun to watch Tanner and Taylor giggle as they shared a mirror just like they’d done their entire lives. Once we began putting on the dress, earrings, shoes, etc., Taylor reminisced about how much she loved those photos from her own wedding. *cue the warm and fuzzies for me*
Meanwhile, as is pretty typical, the guys were in 100% chill mode over in their room. After snapping some photos of Cameron getting ready, we made our way out to the ceremony space and did the dang thing!
Tanner and Cameron were married at a beachside gazebo as Taylor and Nick looked on. And while I was the official photographer, Nick did a great “unofficial” job capturing some fun polaroid shots. (We’re still in negotiations regarding his employment with Jennifer Bradford Photography. Haha!)
After the ceremony, we shared drinks and laughs in the garden area while we had portrait time and even ventured out for a walk on the beach for more shots. Just as the sun was beginning to set, Tanner and Cameron cut their cake, shared a toast, and sat down to a dinner for four as I left them to their evening.
And now, I have the privilege of knowing that I have been a very special part of the Quick sisters’ lives as they have been a very special part of mine.
So, happy six months of marriage to Tanner and Cameron! Wishing you both loads of love and laughter and a lifetime of adventure! <3
