Though the gravity of my job is never lost on me, sometimes I have to take a little extra time to absorb it all. The moments I get to witness.
The excitement. The anticipation. The eagerness. The joy. The signs of promises fulfilled. The love.
Two becoming one in marriage. Adding a number three to the bunch. Or four. Or five. Commemorating birthdays. Capturing daily life. Memorializing milestones. And forever documenting legacies through photo.
Boy. Talk about gravity.
As I’m welcomed into homes and lives and stories, I try to take moments to soak in what this means for my clients and hold that gravity in mind during their session.
While photographing Taylor, Van, and their soon-to-be-Baby Simpson, I found myself admiring how life has taken us all on a journey.
I’ve known Taylor for many, many years, so when she asked me to photograph this time of their lives, I was, of course, honored. It’s always such a joy to be asked to be a part of a story you’ve watched being written for so long. I’ve been witness to her high school and college years and though we don’t see so much of each other these days, I do get to witness much of that through the world of social media. And at the risk of sounding like a mother hen, I’m so PROUD of her and the sweet life she and Van have made together. In just a few short weeks, they will welcome this precious baby boy into the world and navigate the waters that aren’t parenthood. Together. As one. And their next chapter will begin.
And so, it is with pride that I share these images. This glimpse into a seemingly tiny length of time, yet overwhelmingly significant in the story of their lives. Their legacy.
Enjoy!
