Sitting at work (shhh… don’t tell anyone) and was overcome with my passion for writing, yet again. I’ve made this blog writing attempt many times, but have never been able to follow through for various reasons.
Regardless, this will be different. Granted, I still don’t have but a foggy clue of what I’ll be writing about, but other aspects of my life seem to have aligned so that I may have time to do something that I really love. Thankya, Jesus!
That being said, I came back here to redesign this blog and update information from when I started it 2 years ago. (Saying that things have changed since then would be the understatement of the year!) When I flipped over to the “About” tab and read my previous description, I was overcome by multiple emotions- none of which I can quite put my finger on. Sadness? Giddiness? Longing? Pride? All of the above? (I sound like a basket-case! eek.) If you missed it the first time, check it out here, because I’ll be changing it today:
About me… well… there’s a lot to say. It just depends on who I am telling.
My name is Jennifer Henson, in case you haven’t figured that out by now. As of August, I will be able to officially label myself as an ALUMNA of Auburn University and I’ll be dang proud to do so! I will graduate with an B.A. in English with an almost minor in history. I’ve done this in 3 years, so I consider this to be quite an accomplishment, not only because of time, but also because I’m the first of my family to graduate with a 4 year degree. Ya know, the “big money” degree.
Speaking of family, I happen to be the youngest of many children and love it most of the time. We grew up in a small town in south Alabama (most of us, at least) and though it was a pain at the time, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. In fact, Thomasville (and those who inhabit it) has greatly shaped who I am as a person- my thought processes, my beliefs, my manners, my sense of tradition and gave my some good ol’ common sense. People always tell me that I could write a book with all the stories that I bring from home and I never fail to reply… “I’d have to change my name.”
Because of my current status in life, the most commonly asked question of me is, “So what are you doing next?” Well that’s a darn good question. I don’t know. It has taken a long time for me to accept that fact, but it’s true. I don’t know where I’ll be next. I know what I strive for and where I would like to be, but the rest is in hands much more powerful than my own. Until the day that I find out rolls around, then I am just as lost on the topic as you… and that’s where this blog comes in…
Happy travels, everyone…
Oh, nostalgia… 🙂
Keep a check around, because things are about to get pretty darn interesting around here!
Happy travels,
Jubilant Jennifer
